You have to take some decisions about what is, and is not, saveable.

for the bin, in which case I'd happily hack off the nut / stud heads to
get the manifold block off, then use a gas torch to get some heat on
the shafts of the remaining stud sections so they come out easy and you
dont get left with any drilling.

This is where a tool collection comes in; if you have a good gas torch
(butane is fine) plus a full set of taps, dies, drills, and tap
extractors (like LH threaded taps) you can get stuck into this sort of
job and just do it like a professional shop would. It is sad but
apparently true that if you go about this sort of job with enough
confidence and brute force you seem to end up breaking and replacing
less.
