Ok, I have a copy of "Janes Military Vehicles and Logistics 1992-93" (got it
from Barnes and Noble for like $20). There is a section called
'Transportaion Equipment' under which is a sub called 'Over-Snow Vehicles'.
Listed in this section are vehicles produced by Canada, Japan, Sweden, USSR
(former), and the USA. My previous employment was with a defense contractor
and in the company library they had all the Janes books back to the
beginning (as near as I could tell). Previous volumes (prior to my '92-93
version) had more listings for snow tractors. I can recall Kassbohrer,
Nodwell, an Italian Co??., as well as the current Bombardier, Komatsu, LMC,
and Volvo being listed. Since Janes normally shows what is currently in use
by the militaries of the world, one would have to assume that there has been
a decrease in the variety of snow tractors in the various militaries
inventories (there is something gramatically wrong with that last statement
but I'll let it go). I have photo-copies of the Snow Tractor sections from
older volumes but have temporarily (I hope) misplaced them. I never found a
listing for Tucker tractors but then I didn't get to all the volumes. My
volume shows, for the US, only two tractors, both made by LMC (formerly DMC,
formerly Thiokol), the LMC1500 and the LMC1200. Both are gas powered with
conventional automatic tranny's and both use steering diff's.

It would be interesting to find out what is actually in current US inventory
and what they do with them after, i.e. where are they surplussed out of?
Would be kind of amusing to drive one in a Fourth of July parade when it's
98deg out!
