I have tried winter driving on packed and loose snow in my M37 with non-
directional 900-16's. As you stated it was a disaster as in your M38. Luckily
I had chains to get me out of where I went. If you are going to be driving in
inclamate conditions, please get some good tires. On a related note, several
years ago a local Nat'l Guard lost control in rainy conditions and slid into a
Chevy pickup, the Chevy lost. If I remember correctly both passengers in the
Chevy died on scene. The accident was attributed to the inexperience of the
driver and the NDT tires.
