However, here's something very similar. In January 1976, a batch of M151A2's
destined for the US Army was wrongly fitted with "Square Eyes" instead of the
ones we know.
The message went out that "some of these vehicles came from the manufacturer
(AMG) with square-head plugs instead of lifting eyes. The square-head plugs
were meant for the Marines,not the Army. If your unit got any of these, send a
DA Form 2407 (Equipment Improvement Request) to US Army Tank-Automotive
Command listing the manufacturer's serial number and registration number of
each vehicle with plugs. This'll get you the lifting eyes and nuts that are
supposed to be there - free of charge."
Again, to my knowledge, no MWO was issued for this work.
