Is the dist in the middle (f to R)?
Does the lifter cover extend up to the valve cover having the spark plugs go
thru it?
If so, you have an original Chevy (dipper) motor. This motor has 90 hp on a
good day going down hill. It is not a terrible motor, but a slightly newer
Chevy 6 cyl motor from the 50's is a much better deal.
