I just bought a '51 M-38 and have a few questions. First, the original data
plates are there and the serial number is 36089. DOD was 10/51. I can't
find anywhere in the archives how to clean up the data plates, so if
someone could please tell me how do do that (they were painted over.)
Second, the engine was replaced with a F-head from a M-38A1 somewheres
along it's life. Where would the serial number for the engine be located?
Third, Has anyone done any brake work on these vehicles? How "fun" is it
to do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (And big thank you to everyone who
already has helped.)
Thanks,
