I believe the block in your 1942 GPW is a pre-war Willy's engine from
1941, possibly from an Americar. I have engine number 441-50776 in my
'42 GPW. We all know Ford made some early GPW's on Willys frames (mine
is that way). I would be VERY interested if anyone stumbles across
evidence that Ford also used some Willys blocks early on. Anyway, the
number is consistent with 1941 Willys passenger cars... Mine has the
Ford head too...
