What John is referring too was the M48 dash mount that mounted on the face
of the dash taking out half of the glove box anf part of the mount thatere
was a reinforcing bracket to the firewall of the jeep. The were spec'd out
for 1919A4's and A6's, BAR's and M2 50's. It also seems to me that this
would be a bit light for a 50 cal, but them TM's show this mount. It is
not pictured in a repro TM 9-224 Machine Gun Mounts for Trucjs, dated
04/22/43, but this mount is pictured in the Noville Mount book dated 1958.
It appears that the M31 pedestal mount was the common one for a jeep.
