The fuel compensator is not a requirement for operation of most diesel
equipment on JP-8. I was the compensator valve that measures the
viscousity of the fuel and adjusted the injector pump rate of flow (per
engine RPM). The active Army (Logistics Branch) is pushing the "one
fuel army" concept. (The also want one oil 15W40 for EVERYTHING) I'm
not a chemist, so I can't preach pros and con of JP8. It does clean ALL
the crap out the fuel system, after all the headaches of clogged
filters. But I raise concern about lubrication abilty (like low-sulfur
diesel) of JP8.

I'm not super familiar with the VTNG's equipment, but I haven't seen
anthing other than M35A2's (w/ & W/O Clean Air Package) and M35A3 ESP
dueces for many years. Where does the Guard procure it's JP8? We
purchase fuel commercially and (off-road) DF2 in bulk.
