[MV] odd jeep steering wheel

Folks:
I replyed to Charles about this off the list so it didn't get out
generaly so I thought I would put this up to answer the "wheel" question
for the list. The wheel he has is a late war Para jeep removable wheel. I
have made three of these from the origional drawings. It is a late war
wheel because, from the photos, it lacks the little groove on the lower
part of the "hub" that took a wire ring and chain assembly that attached it
to the steering column when it was removed. This assembly kept the wheel
from being lost but was a pain as the small dangeling chain tended to get
caught on things when the driver was getting in and out.
This type of wheel may have appeared on the special Tatoo jeeps of the
70's but they were highly specialized purpose built vehicles which bore
little resemblence to normal vehicles.
