Not sure about that. One of my customers is a rigger. They use fibre core
cable for some applications and I know they never buy foriegn stuff.

The rigger guy calls the fibre core wire rope 'ski rope', as it (in larger
sizes I'm sure) is used for ski lifts. The fibre core offers no strength to
the rope but has something to do with giving the splice a place to go (I
assume the fibre part is removed in the location of the splice) so that
there is no change in outside diameter of the cable, or so I'm told.
