I have just re wired a Diamond T 981. It has 12volt electrics which steps up
to 24volt for the starting circuit. When I try to connect the starter which
has two main power feeds, one from the battery and one from the starter
switch, it sparks. It would appear that there is a direct short. The vehicle
is positive earth and the cranking motor has an isolated earth. Why is this
shorting when the starter switch is not even engaged.
If there is an auto electrician out there I could scan the wiring diagram.
The ammeter reads a discharge and the battery goes flat even without the
starter connected
I would really appreciate any help
