Joe,

With Diesel engines when the lube oil level rises without you doing
anything you have either fuel leaking into the crankcase or antifreeze.
While I am not all that familiar with the LDT4651C engine if the fuel lines
from the high pressure pumps (this is where the throttle connects to) run
inside the head like a Detroit 2 stroke Diesel it is a common problem AFTER
repair work. IT REQUIRES DRAIN THE OIL AND REPLACING IT WITH NEW OIL, FIND
AND FIX THE LEAKING LINE AND DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE OIL FILTERS.....ALL
OF THEM!!! I cannot stress the last too lightly. If you fail to change the
oil YOU WILL WIPE ALL THE BEARINGS IN THE ENGINE WHETHER THE LEAK IS OIL OR
ANTIFREEZE BUT IT KILLS ENGINES FASTER WITH AN ANTIFREEZE LEAK!!! Why??
There is alcohol in antifreeze that will damage or wipe bearings faster than
you can blink.
I use to work for Penn Central and later Conrail as a Locomotive
Engineer so I have plenty of experience with Diesels.
If it turns out to be an antifreeze leak you might have a head casket
leak or an oil cooler leak. Oil pressure is higher the antifreeze so oil
leaks into the cooling system. Please keep me informed what you find out.
Curiosity on my part.
