I have an M151 electronic ignition kit at home. It uses an optical-type sensor
with 4 interruptors that project down from the rotor disk. It might be a little
tricky, but if you fabricated one with 6 interruptors, it might work in an M37
distributor, assuming that it was matched to the correct coil.

I've heard mixed reports about the reliability of the M151 electronic ignition
modules. Some of the failures might be traced to an incorrect coil/resistor
matchup.
