High pressure water is great, especially if it is heated. Be sure and avoid
the radiator though. Also, though not a problem with most MV's you can
distort thin sheet metal with high pressure water. Also available is a sand
injector attachment, which mixes sand with the water downstream from the
pump, this allows you to sandblast at much higher pressures than a
conventional sandblaster and also eliminates the dust problem. Disadvantage
is you must use a chemical additive or of course the surface rusts
immediately.
Hot high pressure (not steam) in the 4-6 gallon per minute, 2000-3000PSI
pressure range without sand is usually effective on paint, especially the
non-factory applied paint. If you get your angle of attack just right it
will usually roll the paint right off. A strong liquid degreaser added
upstream off the pump or hand applied to the work surface will help, but will
probably discolor the original paint.
I have my doubts about any of this except the sand working on CARC paint.
