I followed the recent discussion on Tyre Pressure (TP) markings on vehicles
during World War 2. I would like to let you know what Terence Wise writes on
this subject in his book American Military Camouflage and Markings
1939-1945. This, for WW2 MV-collectors very, very interesting and usefull
book was published by Almark Publications in 1973. ISBN 0 85524 090 3
(hardcover) and ISBN 0 85524 091 0 (softcover).
"Tyre Pressure.
The prescribed tyre pressure was marked on the mudguards above each wheel
or, if mudguards were not used, on the body or frame immediately above each
wheel. On towed vehicles or equipment the marking was always applied to the
body or frame immediately above each wheel. On vehicles where axles occurred
in pairs the marking was centered between the two sets of wheels.
The letters or numerals were one inch high, in the same colour as the
registration number, and consisted of the numerals representing the correct
pressures with the prefix TP."
