And it wasn't one of those pretty jeeps either, we did it the hard way with a
mean looking Ferret Mark 2/3! lol. The award was most appropriately titled
"Beauty in the Beast" which is typically reserved for those great cars
nearing completion, but not quite there yet.
However, this one was complete and its not going to get any better or it
wouldn't be a true mil veh. The Ferret was decked out as if still belonging
to the 9th Royal Armoured and it was displayed against a backdrop of 20' wide
camo netting. Next to that was a concealed stereo system playing bagpipe
music. (Is that an oxymoron, bagpipe and music?) A light breeze fluttered
the large Union Jack from one of the vehicles two whip antennas and there was
some sound effects of machine gun fire and large explosions which thrilled
the kiddies. The crew wore current issue DPM's. The whole bit was as
authentic as could be legally possible. Was a great event... and best part
was a mil-veh got a first! Its all part of getting the public to accept us
isn't it?
