Do not know about all straight air brakes systems on military but this I
know as an ABSOLUTE fact if you have no air on a M123 (10 ton tractor - -
big truck) you have NO BRAKES AT ALL if the motor is not running. -- Just
ask my son to show you the damage we did to the rear of his M35. Commercial
straight air brakes are just the opposite if motor is not running and you
have not air brakes are locked. M123 air actually applies brakes, commercial
truck air releases spring pressure.
