Perhaps I misunderstand your response to my statement that if some one is not
interested in the MVPA enough to pay their dues and join, then they are not
in a position to try to set policy for the organization, nor should the reap
the benefits of membership, including attendence at MVPA events.

Your response was "If that is your opinion, fine, but that has been the
traditional problem of
every (unsuccessful) large organization of enthusiasts in the country- an
eventual effort or surreptious current of opinion to exclude certain members
because of their thoughts or opinions"
BUT no where in my statement do I mention excluding MEMBERS for their
thoughts or opinions. I didn't even say that non-member should be EXCLUDED,
rather, that if some one should choose, as they are free to do, not to join
and vote, they should not feel "entitled" to the benefits of membership.
This is a decision for the non-member in question's conscience.

Until some one joins, and votes, it is not THEIR club, it is A club.

Are you saying that non-members should be allowed to vote? Set policy?
Recieve the club publications? Where is the distinction to be made?

By the way, at least around here, an "MVPA event" does not usually involve
money changing hands, i.e. flea market, rather, it is fellowship, sharing
stories, ideas, restoration techniques, operating and displaying our military
vehicles. Our local MVPA Chapter had 17 events in 1998, and not one of them
was a swap meet.

Again, maybe I misunderstand your point, but I stick to my position, an
organization like this exists for ITS members, and should be run by and for
its members. If you want your voice heard in an organiztions management, the
first step is to join the organization.
