[MV] M-38 jeep compatible parts

I am working on a M37 (3/4 ton dodge cargo truck) and there
is a Cross Reference for like parts written by someone who's name
escapes me at the moment (Zentmyer?).
I also have a M38 Jeep that is kind of a basket case but I will probably
try to restore when truck is done. I know where some parts are but don't
know what is compatible, like will M38a1 front outside axle shafts fit or
maybe civilian (some one pulled mine out). I was wondering if there is any
book written that will help me. Would save me allot of typing.
