I just returned from Texas, where I enjoyed driving and "visiting with"
my 42 GPW for the first time in a year. I had the opportunity to take
2 young girls (with their father) for a ride in the old jeep, and they
both thoroughly enjoyed it ("this is fun and exciting" from a 10 year
old GIRL).
Due to my overseas assignment, this list and the various magazines
serve as my primary link to the MV hobby, at least until next June. It
troubled me last week to see that one of the members was considering
unsubscribing due to the "flaming" by some others members, and it now
encourages me to see that he stayed with the list.
The bottom line, to me, is that we all need to maintain sight of the
fact that we all got into this hobby because it's FUN - whether you
want a "factory fresh" restoration or one that "passes the 10' rule"
and you can drive on a regular basis. Let's not ruin the FUN of this
hobby by being rude and inconsiderate to each other over stupid stuff.
That said, I think the thread on "ethical question" is pretty
appropriate, and a perfect example of what makes this list such a
valuable resource.
