[MV] M 151 Registration

I am considering buying an M151. I live in California. Someone told me
that M151's were a problem to register for on road use in some states.

Can anybody give me some info and advice on this? Is this a problem in
CA, and if so, is it possible to overcome? I would not be interested
in
using this veh for off road only.

I would be happy to take your replies personally, rather than on list,
but I leave that up to you.
