The issue of friendly fire is indeed a very serious issue and
always "hidden" from the public for obvious reasons... In the
ETO, during WWII, the GI's had the 8th Air Force nicknamed "The
American Luftwaffe" for its propensity to drop ordnance on
friendlies... Markings or no markings!

mistaken.......markings are important, any idea how many USMC
guys were lost to friendly fire down here duringWW2?, was there
an official reason for the lack of markings on USMC stuff (ww2)?
