My question concerns the correct sparkplug for a 1968 M725 with the
original engine. The vehicle has 10,592 miles on the odometer and was
owned for a long time by the Aransas Pass Fire Department as an
auxiliary emergency vehicle and got very little use. I pulled the valve
cover and everything showing on the top end is absolutely clean and
tight - the fuel pump eccentrick has not even worn all the forging marks
smooth so I think the mileage is correct.
The vehicle has five Autolite AER35A (MS 35909-4) plugs with a 1/2"
reach, and one AER2243 (MS 35909-1) with a 3/8" reach. I looked at the
M715 Zone and got their specifications page which lists Autolite AER72S,
and AV42(New 515). I ordered a single plug from a Mil Veh supplier and
he sent me an Autolite 2245 (MS 35909-2) with a 3/8" reach.
So, of the two types I have in there, which is correct.
Is the 2245 correct?
What do the numbers mean?
Thanks for any info.
On the Road Again,
Mel
