While prepping my 1971 M35A2 for painting, I've been able to discover the
original 4-color camo pattern that was applied over the OD.
Color #1 Color #2 Color #3 Color #4
(45%) (45%) (5%) (5%)
Forest Gr. Earth Yell Sand Black
It appears to be the 4-colors for Winter, US and Europe, except that Earth
Yellow has been substituted for Field Drab. Two things seem weird:
** That Earth Yellow would be used instead of Field Drab
** That Earth Yellow is color #2, which I thought should be the major color
of the truck.
My Questions:
1) The painting manuals don't seem to mention that this kind of substitution
is okay, but was it commonplace?
2) This truck served in the Delaware Army National Guard, is perhaps the
Earth Yellow used to blend with the local sand color?
Also, while this is NOT my truck, I have found a picture of an M35 painted
exactly like mine was:
