Howdy from Griffin, Georgia, located 1 hr south of atlanta, 15 minutes
off of I-75, (that's so everyone knows the address right off. =^) )
Ok, here's the full story. Every day my wife listens to "Swap Buy
and Sell" on the local radio station. Today a guy called in & said his
brother-in-law has a "1952 Army Truck" for sale. I called the number
provided by the guy & got the owner's wife. I called back at 5:30 this
evening & talked with him. I asked what would he "like to get" for the
truck & he said "he'd like to get about $200".( I feel pretty sure he'd
take $150.00) He said it's a 3/4 ton Dodge, so I guess it's a M-37 or
M-42. Body in bad shape(rusted, at the least), no back brakes (rear
lines pinched off, he said it has front brakes after you bleed the brake
lines), engine runs good (he said it's still a flathead 6 cylinder), 4
wheel drive works, transmission is fine. He got a carb for it last
year.
Now for the fun part, I have too many projects anyway & just would
rather see this thing at least used for a parts vehicle for a
restoration instead of as a hunting buggy. I'm gonna go look at it
tomorrow night if anyone is interested (he said we could start it so I
can hear/see the engine run, I don't really want to try driving it since
it has no brakes, call me crazy, but that's my problem =^) ) .
Depending on the location of the vehicle & how much of beast it'll be to
get up on my flatbed, I could go ahead & buy it & tow it to my
property. If it's too much for my truck & trailer, I've got a buddy
with a flatbed wrecker that I could get a good price from to tow it to
my property.
After tomorrow night, I should at least have a good description of
the vehicle or maybe even photos. If anyone is interested, email me
off-line & I'll email you my phone number so we can talk. All I'd like
for my trouble is maybe some part(s) to help me with the restoration of
my 1944 Willys MB. =^)
