I was recently called to the auto shop of a local high school to see if I
could identify a motor that they had in their shop. I could not identify it,
but I was hoping that someone on the list could shed some light on this
engine and what it was originally used for.
The motor is a two cylinder, air cooled, "V" configuration with a carburetor
mounted between the cylinders. The entire motor is painted in what appears
to be original military olive drab paint. The motor is mounted on a metal
frame with factory type vibration mounts but unfortunately is missing the
piece of equipment that it originally powered (generator, air compressor,
vacuum pump???).
The tag on the motor has the following information: Ranger Aircraft Engine
Corp., Farmingdale, NY, Air Core Type D-2, Model 204-A, Manufacturer Model
V-32, Contract Number W33-038 AC-2767.
Thanks in advance,
Bill
