My manual suggests a different hook up....
Wiffle tree to hook, chain from wiffle tree to pintle...
Extend boom to draw chain tight.
Thus the towing is done by the chain, and the hoist cable doesn't allow the
towed vehicle to contact the towing vehicle (although I could see where a
sudden stop might bring the towed vehicles hood into the hoist line on non
winch vehicles).
Somewhere I seem to remember seeing similar setup utilizing towbar, but would
probably take several hours of digging through manuals to find it.
