Dry Sump Technology is not new. My 1942 Daimler dingo has a dry sump.
My 1972 Honda CB750 has a dry sump. Its not new. I'll bet it was an
old way of doing things for quite some time. Its just a matter of
having 2 oil pumps over one.
I'll bet this aero engine had a service interval for de-cokeing the
cylinders and valve gear due to oil burning and carbonization.
