I don't agree. Hydrogen is not a cure all. It is just another way to move
energy around. Hydrogen has to be generated via electrolosis and that
requires energy in the form of electricity. Electricity is generated from
either Coal, Gas, Oil, or Nuclear power. (Wind and solar cells aren't
economically viable at 10 cents per KWHR, that's why they aren't mounted on
your roof now!) So it gets back to what is the cheapest form of energy -
well it is probably nuclear power if we didn't have the feds making it so
expensive. Other than that it is coal. Can you imagine how many more coal
power plants would be required to generate enough electricity to generate
hydrogen to power all of the cars and trucks (MVs included <-blatant MV
plug)in the world, not including all of the ships and trains that run on
oil now. Talk about greenhouse gases! It doesn't work.
Until oil hits about $10 gallon, it will be the cheapest fuel and price
drives demand.
Actually, you can now use natural gas to generate electricity, and compress
it to run your car on it. The problem is that again, it isn't economically
viable. But you could do it!
Heck you could even run your MV off D cell batteries if you wanted to (with
a motor change of course - a 200 hp DC motor would work in my M51). But
think of the cost to change them!!!
It's all about money.
