Good Morning Grant. I'll try to answer a few of the questions as best as I
can. The experts will be along later. First off it look like a real nice truck
from the pics. The little canister thing is a mystery to me but I'll just about
bet it's some kind of coolant heater/recurculator. Most of the AK trucks
have some sort of this installed. As far as the engine, we cant tell from the
exhaust that it's turbocharged. Could be the LDT465-1C or LDT465-1D if the
turbo was originally installed. It could also be an LD motor that had a turbo
added on. Either way, I like turbos more than my hearing. The arctic enclosure
looks to be in pretty decent shape too. I did notice that the skid plate that
goes on the bottom or the airpak is missing. Not a real federal issue but just
wanted to point that out. Really looks nice and I would guess that it is a
reserve truck. The reserve units sometimes make some unusual modifications so
that thing in the grill might be a part of that. Looks pretty good for the price
to me.
