The big Mil Spec regulators certainly CAN be rebuilt. It was a depot =
level job, though, because of the test bench required. You need
1) The specifications relating voltages applied/sensed to the actions of =
the relays inside;
2) Spares, to include whatever's broken/burned out (relays, fuses/fusable =
links
3) the appropriate service instructions
These aren't something you can just "put a kit" into. Otherwise, the =
"Kit" is simply a rebuilt regulator.

seems to make a difference, at least on the volt gauge in the dash
Can the Autolite regulator be rebuilt? Is there a kit?. Thanx
