Maybe not so much a big battery, but an 8 volt one. I used 8 volts for
a long time before I restored my MB, rebuilt the starter and put in all new
wiring. Now, I'm back to a good 6 volts and all is o.k. Also, be sure your
motor has a good ground connection. A ground cable from the motor
directly to the battery is helpful.
